2023-07-18 15:29:03 - Hello, this is the YSites App’s Blog

Hello!
It's great to have you with us.

In this section you can find our blog posts related to the YSites App.

YSites App was created in the context of our main project called NetMagico.com. NetMagico.com has the aim of providing (as much as possible) free tech tools for the non tech savvy, and YSites App is a good example of that.

Are you looking for a personal website? YSites App is a good choice!
Are you looking for a website for your entrepreneurial adventure? YSites App is a good choice!
Are you looking for a business in the web field (development and hosting)? YSites App is a good choice!

YSites is a free app (android and iOS) that allows you to do all that, in an easy way, and it is suitable for the non tech-savvy people. In the next blog posts, we are going to show you how easy it is.

Thank you.
It's great to have you with us.
Arlete.

2023-08-17 10:37:18 - The Coiffure Website Example (creation, preview, hosting and domain) - 1/4

Imagine you own a coiffure with the name "The Morning Sun" and you are thinking to create or to order a website for it.
In this set of posts, we are going to show you how easy is to, create the website, preview the website on the Web, and how you can assign a domain to the website using the YSites App.

Before the creation of your new website, try to get some good pictures of your space, your staff, your finished works, etc. to be used on the new website. The other option is to browse, free picture websites such as https://pixabay.com or https://unsplash.com and try to find and download some pictures to your device...
(Both unsplash.com and pixabay.com are trademarks. All credits to their owners.)

STEPS:

1. Access the app store (Google Play Store or App Store, according to your device brand), search for YSites, and install it on your phone or tablet.

2. Open the YSites app on your device and tap New (to create a new project). Give a name to the new project (e.g. TheMorningSun) and tap Save.

3. Tap the newly created project to open it.

4. Tap the HEADER section to expand it. If you have a logo, double-tap the lightning icon and tap the logo image to select it. Otherwise, type THE MORNING SUN in the edit box and that's it (it is the title for the website area).
Tap Save.
(You can follow these instructions for any type of company website. If you own a logo, specify it otherwise, type the company name or both.)
Tap HEADER section again to close it.

5. Tap FEATURED IMAGE section to open it. Here you can specify a big (welcome) picture related to your Coiffure and a double-line slogan. Again, you can get a picture from your space and use it or download one from free picture sites. For this website we have downloaded this image to our smart phone: https://unsplash.com/photos/KVVjmb3IIL8 (all credits to unsplash.com). Thus, double-tap the lightning icon and point to the right picture (probably located in the device's downloads folder.)
Type now the company slogan, such as:

THE MORNING SUN
SALON AND DAY SPA SERVICES

Tap Save.
Tap FEATURED IMAGE section again to close it.

You can now see how your future website will look on a small screen device by tapping the Options menu and then the Preview website option. Tap Back to return to the website edition.

6. Tap MAIN SERVICES OR PRODUCTS section to open it. As the "The Morning Sun" is mainly a services-based company we are going to present the three main services (for a products-based company it would be the same to present the three main ones).
a) Check the "Show this section" field to show this section in the final website (as it is optional to show this section)
b) In the Title field type OUR (or any other title for this section)
c) In the subtitle field type SERVICES

Then you can describe three different services by using one image and a double caption for each one. We are going to present the following services: HAIR, NAILS and MAKEUP but you can choose any other services, according to your company.
d) Type HAIR in the first line of the first caption and double-tap the lightning icon to choose the related image. Again, you can use a real image from your space, or you can download one. We are going to use this one: https://unsplash.com/photos/Ix4D4-8cQUU (all credits to unsplash.com).
e) Type NAILS in the first line of the second caption and double-tap the lightning icon to choose the related image. We are going to use this one: https://unsplash.com/photos/r-Ej0NQmFlQ (all credits to unsplash.com).
f) Type MAKEUP in the first line of the third caption and double-tap the lightning icon to choose the related image. We are going to use this one: https://unsplash.com/photos/4gK1Vy2sdJ0 (all credits to unsplash.com).
Tap Save.

Tap now the Options menu and then the Preview website option to find out how your website looks like on your device. You can see the title, the main slogan, and the provided main services. Of course, the website will look a little bit different on a traditional computer or laptop because of the screen dimensions. Later, we will try it on a widescreen device.
Tap Back to return to the website edition.
Tap MAIN SERVICES OR PRODUCTS section again to close it.

7. Tap ABOUT US section to open it. This section is useful to present the company to the reader.
a) Check the "Show this section" field to show this section on the final website.
b) In the first edition box type ABOUT US.
c) Double-tap the lightning icon to load a picture that represents your company. We are going to use this one: https://unsplash.com/photos/fI-TKWjKYls (all credits to unsplash.com).
d) Now type a descriptive text in the second edition box. You can rotate your device to get a large typing area if needed. The right option here is to write the text in a Word or text editor and then copy and paste it. For this example website we are going to use the following text:

Welcome to "The Morning Sun Coiffure" where we turn hair into a masterpiece. Our services encompass everything from precision cuts and rich colors to intricate braids and stylish updos, all tailored to your preferences. Step into our serene space and let our experienced stylists work their magic. We exclusively use top-tier hair products to ensure your locks stay vibrant and healthy. At The Morning Sun, we're not just a salon – we're a destination for beauty and relaxation. Your hair transformation journey begins here.

Tap Save.
Tap ABOUT US section again to close it.

8. Tap PORTFOLIO section to open it. This section is useful to present the finished works (or any other evidence) to the reader.
a) Check the "Show this section" field to show this section on the final website.
b) In the Title field type OUR (or any other title for this section)
c) In the subtitle field type PORTFOLIO
Then you can specify a maximum of nine images each one with an optional caption. In this section, it is important that you use your own images showing real finished works. For the purpose of this example website, we are going to use the following images without captions (all credits to unsplash.com):

https://unsplash.com/photos/M5l-xJeD1ZM
https://unsplash.com/photos/T4bFs7q9E94
https://unsplash.com/photos/acJTuAzH9RQ

Tap Save.

9. Tap SLOGAN WITH PARALLAX EFFECT section to open it. This section is useful to present a strong slogan in the middle of the website.
We want to show this idea: Your hair transformation journey begins here

a) Check the "Show this section" field to show this section on the final website.
b) In the Title field type Your hair transformation journey
c) In the Tagline field type begins here
Tap Save.

Tap SLOGAN WITH PARALLAX EFFECT section again to close it.

We are not going to show the Staff or any other information composed of three images and related captions. If you desire it, you can activate the section, fill in the title (e.g. OUR STAFF) and then load the picture and type the name and the function of each person.

We are not going to show "our clients" either. However, we can reuse that section called "OUR CLIENTS" to show some product brands used in this Coiffure. Remember that the section names shown in the YSites App are just suggestions. You can use a specific section to show something not related to the original section name. This is possible because it is the user that defines the section title.

10. Tap OUR CLIENTS section to open it. This section supports a maximum of six rectangular images showing products, client name or brands, etc.
To get optimal results try to get pictures all of the same size, for example, 280x80. We have created six images of 280x80 to be used here (e.g. generic CompanyA, CompanyB, etc. images).

a) Check the "Show this section" field to show this section on the final website.
b) In the Title field type PRODUCTS
c) In the Subtitle field type WE USE
d) Load the images for the used products (e.g. CompanyA, CompanyB, or ProductA, ProductB, etc)

11. Finally, it is time to provide the company address, phone, email, social networks (if any), and the name of the individual or company that has created this website (yes, white labeling available!).

Once finished, you can tap the Options menu and then the Preview website option to see the final result on a device with a small screen (your phone or your tablet).

In the next post we are going to preview the just created in different devices (e.g. computers) and how to deploy it with a self-domain to be available 24 hours a day.

Thank you.

2023-08-17 20:19:56 - The Coiffure Website Example (creation, preview, hosting and domain) - 2/4

(You can execute these steps every time you update the website)

In the last post, we created a sample website for a Coiffure salon. Now, it is time to see how the created website looks like on a traditional computer (or other device) by temporarily hosting it in the Internet space. The word 'temporarily' means that the available space to be used on the Internet is shared by multiple users and at any time your website could be overridden by a website of any other YSites app user. So, we are going to deploy the website and then, quickly, use the browser to fetch it as a regular website user would do. Any kind of device can be used in this step, however, we encourage you to use a laptop or a traditional computer with a wide screen.
But, before deploying the website it is a good idea to assign it a title. The website's title is not shown on the website but on the browser tab and it is very important for search engines indexing (e.g. Google, etc.)

1. Open YSites app and tap the TheMorningSun project to open it.

2. Now tap the Options menu and then Other properties option. Scroll down and fill the 'Website title' edit box with the following text or a similar text that describes the website:

The Morning Sun - Salon and Day SPA Services

Tap Save and then Back.

3. Tap the Options menu and then the Deploy website option. Here you can deploy the website to your official Internet server (the computer that serves your website 24 hours a day) or to any other server. This time, we are going to use the YSites App tester servers to see how the website looks like on a laptop computer. So, tap one of the available instances (for example #5) to fill in the details on the top screen. Then tap Deploy in the top right corner. This operation will take some time to finish and the progress is presented on the top of the screen.
Now recall the address that is next to the chosen instance (e.g http://www.mynetsites.com:85) and write it in the address bar of the laptop's browser.
If anything went well, the website is now displayed on the laptop.

The generated websites by YSites App are prepared to adapt to any device dimension so if you want to find out how the website is shown on a small-screen device, you can also use the same address in the smartphone's browser.

If for any reason the displayed website is not yours, choose another instance and deploy it again.

Thank you!

2023-08-25 14:27:21 - The Coiffure Website Example (creation, preview, hosting and domain) - 3/4

(These steps are done once per website. Then you can deploy the website directly from YSItes app as many times as you want)

In the first post, we created a (sample) website for a Coiffure salon. In the second post, we hosted the created website (temporarily and for free) on the Internet (YSites Testing Servers) in order to find out how does the website look like on a desktop or laptop computer’s browsers.
If everything was OK, now it is time to host the website permanently on the Internet to make it available to everyone 24 hours a day.
For this step, it was chosen the interserver VPS provider but you can choose any other VPS provider.
So, open https://www.interserver.net/ press Login at the top, and then Sign up. Provide an email and a password, check I agree to the Terms of Service and then press Create Account button. You have to check your email in order to validate the new account.

Open https://www.interserver.net/ again and then press Login. Provide the registered email and password and press Sign In.
Inside your account, choose VPS on the left and Order on the top to Order a virtual computer (VPS) to host your website (in this case you have to pay ~6 Dollars per month for this service).

Ensure the following options:

Platform: KVM
Location: New Jersey
Slices: 1
Image: Ubuntu
Version: 20.04 64 bit
Root password: write the provided password in a paper *

Press Continue button.

On the left menu, Expand Billing and choose Cart
Ensure that the just-created VPS is checked. Click the payment method that applies to you (e.g. Select Card)
Press button "Add New Card"
Then, in step 4 select that card, and press Pay Now button

(Remember that from now on, you have to pay that amount per month to keep your virtual computer to host your website 24 hours a day)

Wait some minutes while the VPS is being prepared by clicking on VPS (on the left menu) and wait for the VPS to appear in the VPS List.

Now, copy the IP column content to a paper **
Then click on the gear icon to configure the VPS.
Now click on the Change Timezone and choose your time zone

Now we are going to prepare the VPS (virtual machine) to receive deployments from YSites app. For that, you need a Windows, Linux or Mac OS machine. If for any reason you do not have access to these kind of machines, drop us a line (info@dgtaware.com) and we will prepare it for you and for free. No problem.
In a Windows machine, start download and install the free Putty application. For that, open address https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html and choose the 64-bit x86 msi file. Then install it and execute it. On the left, select Session, type the IP address** in the Host Name (or IP address) edit box. Select SSH and press the open button.
For the login type root (and enter key)
For the password, type the password written in the paper *
Then The # or $ appears waiting for commands.
If you have a Linux or Mac OS machine, open a terminal/console and write the following command followed by the enter key:
ssh root@IP_ADDR (replace IP_ADDR by the IP written in to the paper**)
For the login type root (and enter key)
For the password, type the password written in the paper *
Then The # or $ appears waiting for commands.
The next commands are the same for Linux, Mac OS or Windows machines.
Type (or copy and paste) the following commands (pressing enter at the end):
sudo apt update
adduser demo
(Provide a password for this user and press enter. Retype the password and press enter. Write this password*** also on a piece of paper. For the full name, just press enter and then press enter for the rest of the queries even for the Y/n query).
usermod -aG sudo demo
mkdir /var/website
chown demo:demo /var/website/ -R
cd /etc/systemd/system
wget http://www.dgtaware.com/netsiteswebserver.service.css -O netsiteswebserver.service
systemctl daemon-reload
systemctl enable netsiteswebserver
systemctl start netsiteswebserver
systemctl status netsiteswebserver
cd /var/website
wget http://www.dgtaware.com/Netsiteswebserver.css -O netsiteswebserver
wget http://www.dgtaware.com/config.css -O config.json
wget http://www.dgtaware.com/definepwd.css -O definepwd

chmod 554 ./netsiteswebserver
chmod 554 ./definepwd

Close the window.

After VPS preparation for receiving deploys from YSites app, it is time to make the first website deployment. Hence, launch your YSites app, open the website project, and choose options | Deploy. Fill the first edit box with the IP address written in the paper **
Fill the second edit box with: /var/website
Fill the third edit box with: demo
Fill the fourth edit box with the password written in the paper ***
Then tap Deploy on the top right corner. Remember that every time you change the website you have to deploy it again in order to copy the changes to the website hosting machine (VPS).

Now you can open the Internet browser and use the address: http://IP_ADDRESS where IP_ADDRESS is the IP address** written on the piece of paper. In the next post, we will replace the IP address with an Internet name/domain.

Any doubt or any problem drop us a line (info@dgtaware.com)

2023-08-26 09:48:23 - The Coiffure Website Example (creation, preview, hosting and domain) - 4/4

(These steps are done once per website)

In this post we are going to finish the Coiffure Website Example by assigning an Internet name (domain) to it.

For example, when you browse (in the browser) google.com you are requiring the website of Google. When you browse yahoo.com, you are requesting the website of Yahoo. Now, the idea is to let users browse themorningsun.com (or other name you choose for your website) and get the website we have just created. To achieve this it is required to register the name themorningsun.com (or other) globally through a registrar company (usually it costs 20 or 30 Dollars per year).

a) Start by writing three or four names suitable for your website in a paper (because the name themorningsun.com may be already taken).

b) Open a domain registrar website and try to register your favorite name. In this step, we are going to use fastwebhost.com, but you can use any other domain registrar company.
In the top menu choose DOMAINS | Domain Registration. Type the name for your website in the edit box, including the .com suffix, and press the Search Domain button. If a second form appears, press Search again. If the provided name is unavailable, try with other names until you get success.

Press the Add to Cart button and then Checkout. In the Domains Configuration screen press the Continue button and then press checkout again. Provide your details and credit card info and then press Complete Order. Do not forget the email address and the password provided.

Then open https://www.fastwebhost.com/clients/login and type your credentials.
Inside your account environment, click the Domains menu and then the My Domains option and you will see your new domain with the status “Pending”.
Try again 12 or 24 hours later until you can see the status as Active.
In this situation, you can check the first column and then press Manage Nameservers on the top. Then select Use Custom nameservers (enter below).
In the first edit box type: cdns1.interserver.net
In the second edit box type: cdns2.interserver.net
In the third edit box type: cdns3.interserver.net
Press Change Nameservers button, and the task is done.

Wait 12 or 24 hours for the change to be spread all over the world. In the meantime, you can try on a browser the chosen name for your website to find out if it is already working or not.
Any problem or doubt drop us a line: info@dgtarare.com
